Obituary:
Daniel (Danny) Dalton Morgan, age 88, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was at his home in Exeter, CA, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Danny was born on February 19, 1934 in DeQueen, Arkansas. He was the youngest of seven children born to Daniel Webster Morgan and Vivian Joy McClellan Morgan. In 1950, his family moved to California and eventually settled in Bakersfield. He went to work for the Kern County Land Company (KCL) located west of Bakersfield. In 1953, he joined the Marine Corp and upon being honorably discharged, he returned to work for the KCL Company as a farmer and eventually became a foreman of the 46,000 acre Buena Vista Ranch. After receiving his FCC license, he oversaw and maintained the radio communication systems for the Kern County Land Company and eventually Tenneco Oil Company. He spent over 20 years with KCL and Tenneco. While living in Bakersfield, he met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Harding. On May 30, 1958, they were married. In the next few years, their two sons, Michael and Matthew, joined their lifetime adventure. As the song goes, “If you wanna see how true love should be, then just look at us”. After more than 64 years together, Danny and Shirley were the definition of true love. In 1973 he went to work for Southern California Edison Company as a powerhouse electrician on the Kern River Hydroelectric power-plants. In 1988, he and Shirley moved to Three Rivers, California where he was promoted to the position of Supervisor of Operations and Maintenance at the Kaweah and Tule River Hydroelectric facilities. He retired after a 22 year career with Edison. Danny is survived by his wife, Shirley, their sons and their wives Michael and MaryAnn and Matthew and Nancy, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. This gentle man who was known for his knowledge, wisdom, kindness and humor will be truly missed.
