Obituary:
Joe Raul Saldivar, 81, of Farmersville, danced his way into Heaven on July 30, 2023. He is preceded by his late wife, Jennie Saldivar, and his seven siblings Charles, Nathaniel, Pauline, Francis, Pearl, Lido (Zombie), and Victoria. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado on April 22, 1942, to the late Rose Flores of Chihuahua, Mexico and Gregorio Saldivar of Guadalajara, Mexico. Joe was one of ten siblings who relocated to Exeter, California as a young child where the family began laying their Saldivar roots.
After attending Exeter High, Joe joined the United States Army to serve his country in which he served two terms in Vietnam. Upon returning from the line of duty, his passion to serve did not end. He found enjoyment in visiting other wounded warriors which often led to sharing tales from the battlefield. He also found great honor in singing at funeral services of veterans being laid to rest. He is the true definition of a serviceman.
Serving his country was not the only thing Joe took great pride in. He found masonry and carpentry work very rewarding. He often took on custom jobs building pools, patios, waterfalls, and gazebos, just to name a few. Being a skilled worker wasn’t his only enjoyment. He found great pleasure in being an outdoorsman and enjoying family time that included hunting, camping, fishing, and cooking meals under the campfire. He looked forward to Sundays, watching his favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers, or listening to the San Francisco Giants on the radio. Joe had a deep passion for music and loved dancing on any dance floor. He loved performing with his band and often had a regular table at the casinos.
He is survived by his children Samuel and Victoria; step-children Anna, Manuel, and Xavier Rios; and his grandchildren Kianna and Richard Garcia—all of Visalia. His siblings: Samuel Saldivar of Lemon Cove and Georgia Gaona of Long Beach. Along with his many loving nieces, nephews, and best friends.
Please join us, family and friends, as we gather together to lay Joe Saldivar to rest.
