Obituary:
On August 22, 2016, Charles M. Cooper, beloved of many, passed away after a short illness. He was born in Cook, Nebraska on March 17, 1932. He came with his family to this Valley in 1941, and settled in Springville California. Charles graduated Porterville HS and joined the US Navy in 1951, working as a Machinist’s mate. He became successful in this endeavor and worked for Soult’s Pump Company, Moore Business Forms, and then co- founded the successful Cooper/Weller machine shop with Wayne Weller. He retired in 1993.
Charles raised his family in Tulare and Visalia before moving to Exeter. He is survived by his wife Floran and his children, Patricia (Alford), Alice (Foulk), and Charles A. Cooper, as well as Floran’s children, Lisa (deLaunay), Wendy (Stark) and Kelly (Shuklian). He is also survived by his sister Alvina (Smith) and brother Bill. His brother Don preceded him in death. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 8 Great-grand children, and many nieces and nephews along with many close friends too numerous to count. Charles was well known for being very welcoming, telling his family “We’ll leave the light on for you, just like Motel 6”. We all will miss this great man.
